SACRAMENTO, Calif.—Sutter Health made a $50,000 donation today to help those impacted by the Camp Fire, which continues to rage in Butte County.

Sutter Health’s donation will go to the American Red Cross California Wildfires Fund. The fund will help bring food, water and emergency shelter to the families affected by the devastation left in the fire’s wake.

“Our Butte County neighbors have suffered such tremendous losses from this devastating fire. We are so grateful for the heroism of the first responders, as well as those from Adventist Health’s Feather River Hospital who safely evacuated patients,” said Sarah Krevans, president and CEO of Sutter Health. “Through an outpouring of community support, we can help provide shelter and supplies to those most in need.”

Some Butte County residents were hurt while trying to flee the fire or are experiencing health issues as a result of the smoke. In an effort to support those needing care, several Sutter doctors and clinicians are volunteering their time at a mobile clinic at the Yuba-Sutter Fairgrounds. These teams are also collecting items for donation that will be given to those impacted by the fire.

Sutter Health has long partnered with the Red Cross and other organizations to help people close to home and worldwide. Earlier this year, Sutter Health made a $100,000 donation to support those affected by the Carr and Mendocino Complex fires. In 2017, Sutter Health made donations to help support communities in Sonoma, Napa, Solano, Lake, Butte, Mendocino and Yuba counties impacted by wildfire. Additional contributions from Sutter Health have supported other relief efforts for the recent hurricanes in Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico. Last year, Sutter Health invested $612 million in care and services for the poor and underserved.
