Sutter Rehabilitation Institute is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a patient reunion Oct. 3.

ROSEVILLE, Calif. — Sutter Rehabilitation Institute, Placer County’s only acute rehab facility, is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year and is inviting its former patients – more than 9,000 of them –to a patient reunion from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3.

The reunion is the opportunity for the Sutter Rehabilitation Institute care team to see the progress patients have made over the years, and for the former patients to reconnect with other patients and say thank you to the specialized care staff that helped to rehabilitate them so they could return home and to their regular lives.

The reunion will be held in the outdoor therapy area at Sutter Rehabilitation Institute, 6 Medical Plaza Drive, Roseville. Those wishing to attend can RSVP at (916) 878-2597 or email SutterRI@sutterhealth.org. Appetizers will be served, and complimentary valet service will be provided.

Sutter Rehabilitation Institute was the brainchild Sutter Health regional executive Pat Blair, who saw that the Sacramento area had fewer inpatient rehabilitation beds than other communities the same size. A location on the campus of Sutter Roseville Medical Center was identified, and the rehab facility opened in December 2008. Since then, Sutter Rehabilitation Institute has expanded and is nationally accredited in several specialized care programs, including brain injuries, strokes, amputations and spinal cord injuries.

The 55,000-square-foot Institute houses a dedicated spinal cord injury unit, a 3,000-square-foot inpatient gym, an outdoor therapeutic area, inpatient dining room and recreation lounge, as well as a family education center. Additionally, Sutter Rehabilitation Institute is the only location within the greater Sacramento region to feature a specially designed brain injury unit with designated therapy and dining/recreation space. The rehabilitation center also offers a unique independent living apartment within the facility, where a patient’s family is able to practice caring for their loved one to help ease the transition to home.

Longtime Sutter Roseville CEO Pat Brady, who retired earlier this year, was instrumental in having the acute rehab facility located in Placer County. He will speak at the patient reunion, along with Sutter Rehabilitation Institute’s first medical director, Karanjit Basrai, M.D., and a couple of former patients.
