SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Recognized for achievements in patient safety and quality, The Leapfrog Group® named three Sutter Health hospital campuses as Top Hospitals in 2017. Announced today, the Leapfrog Top Hospital award is widely acknowledged as one of the most competitive honors American hospitals can receive.
Sutter Health hospital campuses named as Top Hospitals in 2017 include:
- California Pacific Medical Center, California campus in San Francisco
- Sutter Maternity & Surgery Center of Santa Cruz
- Sutter Santa Rosa Regional Hospital
“Across our network our doctors and hospital teams partner together each day to give patients exceptional, high-quality care in a safe environment,” said Stephen Lockhart, M.D., Ph.D. chief medical officer for Sutter Health. “By working as an integrated system, we share knowledge and best practices. This teamwork helps positively impact other aspects of care beyond quality and safety, including improving the patient experience and lowering costs.”
Performance across many areas of hospital care is considered in establishing the qualifications for the Top Hospital award, including infection rates, maternity care, and the hospital’s capacity to prevent medication errors. The rigorous standards are defined in each year’s Top Hospital Methodology.
“We are proud to recognize these three Sutter Health hospital campuses as 2017 Leapfrog Top Hospitals. This demonstrates extraordinary dedication to patients and their local communities. The entire staff and board deserve praise for putting quality first and achieving results,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of Leapfrog.
To qualify for the Top Hospitals distinction, hospitals must submit a Leapfrog Hospital Survey. The selection of Top Hospitals 2017 is based on surveys from nearly 1,900 hospitals. To see the full list of institutions honored as 2017 Top Hospitals, visit www.leapfroggroup.org/tophospitals.
