Sutter Health Appoints Rishi Sikka, M.D. as President of System Enterprises

Sutter Health has named Rishi Sikka, M.D. as president of system enterprises. A new role in the not-for-profit health system, Dr. Sikka will have executive oversight of systemwide services including Shared Services, Pharmacy, Ambulatory Surgery Centers, Sutter Care at Home, Care Coordination and Sutter’s Shared Lab. He will join Sutter in early February 2017.
Dr. Sikka currently works at Chicago-based, not-for-profit Advocate Health Care, where he serves as president of Advocate’s Physician Partners Risk Purchasing Group and president of Advocate Insurance Segregated Portfolio Company. From 2011 to 2013 he was Advocate’s vice president, clinical transformation. One of the nation’s most respected health care networks, Advocate is among the largest health care providers in the Midwest, operating more than 450 sites of care and 12 hospitals.
A graduate of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Sikka earned his medical degree from the Mayo Clinic Medical School. He held clinical and management positions in emergency medicine at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Ill., and Boston University Medical Center, as well as faculty positions at the University of Illinois—Chicago School of Medicine and Boston University School of Medicine.
Earlier in his career Dr. Sikka co-founded Cambridge, Mass.-based Praxeon, Inc., which develops healthcare and life science semantic searching platforms and offers health information to patients, clinical practitioners and medical researchers. He also served as a medical correspondent for KTTC TV, an NBC affiliate in Rochester, Minn.
