Sutter Health and UnitedHealthcare Renew Network Relationship
Posted on Oct 12, 2015 in Expanding Access
Sutter Health and UnitedHealthcare have renewed their network relationship, giving people enrolled in UnitedHealthcare’s employer-sponsored and Medicare Advantage plans access to Sutter Health facilities and physicians through 2017.
The renewed relationship expands the use of performance-based incentives designed to reward Sutter Health physicians for the quality of care delivered while managing medical costs. This includes providing certain Medicare patients with access to Sutter Health’s Advanced Illness Management program, which takes a home-based approach to providing chronically ill patients with physical and emotional support.
People enrolled in UnitedHealthcare’s Signature Value HMO, Signature Value Alliance HMO, Medicare Advantage HMO and employer-sponsored Medicare retiree Advantage PPO plans all benefit with access to care provided through Sutter Health, as well as other network care providers.
“We’re pleased to extend our relationship on a multiyear basis that preserves continuity of care for UnitedHealthcare plan participants and Sutter Health patients,” said Pat Fry, Sutter Health CEO.
“Sutter Health is an important provider of health care services, and we are grateful for its commitment to improving health care quality and reducing costs,” said Brandon Cuevas, CEO of UnitedHealthcare of California. “Our continued work togethergives individuals and families access to critical health services in their communities.”
Sutter Health serves patients in more than 100 cities and towns in California, with 5,000 physicians and a workforce of more than 50,000. UnitedHealthcare serves more than 3.1 million people in California through its employer-sponsored, Medicare and TRICARE businesses, with a network of 367 hospitals and more than 90,000 physicians and other care providers statewide.
