Zully Broussard discusses with Sacramento-area media how her altruistic kidney donation helped six people receive lifesaving kidney transplants. She may have donated a kidney, but her efforts are all heart.

Sacramento-area resident Zully Broussard returned home Sunday afternoon following her kidney donor surgery and hospital stay at Sutter Health’s California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC). Broussard was the altruistic kidney donor who, because of her compassion, helped six people in need receive lifesaving kidney transplants. She shared her story today during a special event hosted at Sutter Roseville Medical Center.

The rare, two-day, six-way kidney transplant took place last week on March 5 and March 6 without complication. CPMC discharged all 12 patients, who now rest comfortably at home.

Broussard’s generosity sparked numerous inquiries about altruistic kidney donation—an option many have not previously considered. She takes pleasure in knowing her actions inspire others, but ultimately she finds great comfort in knowing her personal contribution makes an enormous difference for the six patients and their families.

“I feel like there is a higher power behind all this, making it happen. I’m glad to be of service,” she said.

Learn more details behind Broussard’s act of kindness and the team at Sutter Health’s CPMC that made it happen.
